Block Magnets
Neodymium block magnets, also called rectangular or bar magnets, offer a large flat contact face for fixtures, jigs, shopfitting and assemblies where a disc will not fit. Sizes range from a 1 x 1 x 1 mm cube to a 100 x 100 x 50 mm block, with cubes from 1 to 15 mm.
Grades from N35 to N52 are available where stated, with N45 the most common. Choose nickel-plated or epoxy-coated blocks, countersunk blocks with one or two holes (most sold with the countersink on the north or south pole), self-adhesive blocks and an 85 x 30 x 12 mm N50 block with a stainless steel handle. For blocks, the last dimension is the magnetisation direction, so a 40 x 20 x 5 mm magnet is magnetised through its 5 mm thickness. Typical tolerance is ±0.1 to 0.2 mm.
