The Countersunk Neodymium Ring Magnet 8 x 6 x 3.1 x 5 mm N48, North Pole is a neodymium (NdFeB) magnet in grade N48 with a nickel coating (Ni-Cu-Ni). It has an outer diameter of 8 mm and a height of 5 mm, with a 3.1 mm through hole and a 6 mm countersink, so it can be screwed on flush with a countersunk screw. It is magnetised axially through its height; the countersunk side is the north pole. Combine it with the South Pole version if two magnets have to attract each other face to face. Screw it onto wood, plastic or panels for cabinet and door catches, covers and panels, signage and displays, tool holders and jigs.

N48 is one of the higher grades of neodymium and gives a high holding force for its size (N50 and N52 are stronger still). The calculated pull force is approx. 1.7 kg when the magnet sits directly on a thick, flat steel plate. In practice the force is lower on thin or painted steel, on rough surfaces or with an air gap.

The nickel coating protects the magnet against corrosion in dry, indoor conditions. For damp or outdoor use, seal or shield the magnet.

Please handle with care: neodymium magnets are brittle and can chip or break if they snap together, and they can pinch fingers. Keep them away from children, pacemakers and sensitive electronics.
